I am currently a Senior Software Engineer at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA. I've done quite a lot of stuff at WDAS, but I spent much of my time here as a member of the Hyperion team. As one of the first people on the project, I helped do the intitial R&D, implemented key subsystems of the renderer, and helped guide it through usage in multiple feature films. I also led an R&D team aimed at researching and implementing next generation pipeline technology.
My research at Iowa was focused on approximating global illumination effects at interactive speeds on GPUs. Other interests in graphics include caustics, geometry simplification, volume rendering, and ray tracing.
Note that much of the content from this page is carried over from my time as a graduate student at the University of Iowa (where I received my PhD in 2010) and is pretty academic in nature.
My resume can be found here.
